Apple TV+ To Release The Bloody Hundredth Documentary Based On Real Masters of the Air Heroes
Apple TV+ is set to release a new documentary to accompany the finale of their hit show Masters of the Air.
Masters of the Air spiked in popularity the moment it aired due to its star-studded cast, next level effects, and raw human storytelling. The series is based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name and recounts real men’s stories of their experiences during the World War II. All of the main characters are based on real people who fought for the United States against Nazi Germany and lived to tell the tale. Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman collaborated on the series to serve alongside other critically acclaimed historical war dramas like Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Following the show’s finale on March 15, Apple TV+ will be premiering an original documentary about these brave men titled The Bloody Hundredth.
The Bloody Hundredth is a new documentary honoring the real-life heroes of the 100th Bomb Group. The hour long documentary is produced by Playtone-Amblin and is narrated by Tom Hanks. It spotlights the true stories of several characters and real-life airmen featured in Masters of the Air. That includes John Egan (played by Callum Turner), Gale Cleven (played by Austin Butler), Harry Crosby (played by Anthony Boyle), Robert “Rosie” Rosenthal (played by Nate Mann), Frank Murphy (played by Jonas Moore), Alexander Jefferson (played by Brandon Cook), Richard Macon (played by Josiah Cross), as well as many others. The Bloody Hundredth is an homage and recounting of what was endured and achieved by young Americans when their country and the world needed them most.
