The Best Of Netflix’s Geeked Week 2022: First Kill, The School For Good and Evil, Wednesday, The Midnight Club, and More!

Vampire romances, zombie bucket lists, and fairytale adventures, oh my! Netflix pulled out all the stops with Geeked Week as they celebrated their slate of storytelling across sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, and anime — and treated us to some exclusive sneak peeks, trailers, and date announcements. Here’s a collection of the movies and TV shows we can’t wait to geek out over on Pop Culture Planet:

First Kill

Get ready to sink your teeth into this star-crossed romance between a vampire and a monster hunter that is equal parts Romeo and Juliet meets Killing Eve. First Kill premieres June 10 on Netflix.


Spiderhead

Two inmates form a connection while grappling with their pasts in a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by a brilliant visionary who experiments on his subjects with mind-altering drugs. Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett star in this film based on The New Yorker short story “Escape From Spiderhead” by George Saunders. Spiderhead hits Netflix on June 17.


The Seabeast

From Academy Award winning filmmaker behind Moana and Big Hero Six comes The Sea Beast. When beloved monster hunter Jacob Holland meets young monster hunting hopeful Maisie Brumble they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters. Starring Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Stevens, and Kathy Burke, this monstrous adventure attacks July 8.


The Sandman

Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series written by Neil Gaiman, The Sandman is a rich, character-driven blend of myth and dark fantasy woven together over ten epic chapters following Dream’s many adventures. The Sandman hits Netflix on August 5.


Locke & Key

We’ve got a teaser for the epic third and final season of Locke & Key with new villain Captain Frederick Gideon… and Dodge’s return? Unlock the magic one last time on August 10.


Day Shift

We’ve got a behind-the-scenes look at Day Shift featuring the guys who taught John Wick how to kick butt teaching Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, and Snoop Dogg how to hunt vampires. Day Shift hits Netflix on August 12.


The School For Good & Evil

Best friend Sophie and Agatha find themselves on opposing sides of a modern fairy tale when they’re swept away into an enchanted school where young heroes and villains are trained to protect the balance of good and evil. Based on the best-selling book series, The School for Good & Evil stars Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, Sophia Anne Caruso, and Sofia Wylie. The fairytale begins this September.


The Midnight Club

At a manor with a mysterious history, the eight members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories — and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond. Based on the beloved Christopher Pike book series, and brought to life by the creators of The Haunting of Hill House, The Midnight Club hits Netflix on October 7.


Fate: The Winx Saga

We’ve got our first look at Fate: The Winx Saga, including Paulina Chávez as the much-anticipated addition to the crew as Flora. Season 2 premieres this fall.


Wednesday

From the imagination of Tim Burton comes the twisted new series Wednesday. Jenna Ortega stars in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more. This sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charts Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy, coming this fall.


Wendell & Wild

In this new clip from Wendell & Wild, Kat comes across a curious teddy bear locked up in a drawer. The stop motion animated film arrives this October to Netflix.


Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth has officially wrapped on season 2, promising higher stakes, bigger battles, and meaner bad guys.


Warrior Nun

They’re nuns, they’re warriors… and they’re finally back with a first look at season 2. Warrior Nun returns to Netflix this winter.


Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities

Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities introduces eight unique horror stories from esteemed auteurs like Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), and Vincenzo Natali (Cube).


Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

Eiji Akaso stars as Akira, a young man whose dull life is reinvigorated when he has to survive the zombie apocalypse that have overrun his town in the Netflix adaptation of the manga Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead.

Will we meet the survivors of Hyosan High again? All of us are dead is officially returning for season 2.


The Imperfects

Three twenty somethings were turned into monsters by evil scientists against their will. Now they’re on the hunt for the mad-man responsible in hopes of reversing the side-effects… while also being chased by a government agency, dealing with college applications, teenage romance, random monster mutations, and all of sorts of coming of age related dramas. From the minds behind The Order, Fargo, and Van Helsing, The Imperfects is a coming of rage story starring Italia Ricci, Iñaki Godoy, Morgan Taylor Campbell, Rhianna Jagpal, and Rhys Nicholson.
