Lil Nas X Shares His Journey From Atlanta To Stardom Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero Documentary

HBO brings us Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, a documentary film that follows the genre-breaking artist on his personal journey of discovery through the music industry.

From “Old Town Road” to “That’s What I Want,” the Grammy award-winning rapper, singer, and songwriter shares the rehearsals and performances of his 60-day “Long Live Montero” tour. The film takes a dive into Lil Nas X’s past from growing up in Atlanta to his explosive musical career. Divided into three acts — Rebirth, Transformation, and Becoming — the film chronicles Montero’s own odyssey as he navigates the pressures of his rise to stardom, his desire to inspire his fans, and his place within the realm of Black, queer icons.

The audience will be transported through his trials and tribulations with his deeply personal music as he’s still exploring his own identity, complicated relationships with family members, and his aspirations as a force for self-expression and acceptance. It will be raw, vulnerable, emotional, spectacular, and serve as a testament to artists who continue to push the boundaries for other artists to come.

Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero premieres January 27, 2024.
