AMC Theatres Partners With A24 To Re-Release Your Favorite Horror Movies In Theaters This October

Attention spooky szn lovers!

A24 is collaborating with AMC Theatres to present a spooktacular month long event called “October Thrills and Chills Film Series.” In this program, they’ll be re-releasing some fan favorite horror movies including The Witch, X, Under the Skin, and Midsommar in select theaters. Your ticket comes with both access to watch one of the indie horror films, plus a free month trial subscription to AAA24. This new membership program gives A24 fans access to zines, birthday gifts, exclusive social media content, merchandise, and more. Here’s when the movies will screen in AMC Theatres — and make sure to grab your tickets here for frights all October long.

The Witch

Get ready to be transported to a chilling world of horror with Robert Eggers' The Witch. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, this atmospheric masterpiece takes you back to 17th-century New England, where a Puritan family is struggling to come to terms with the inexplicable forces that surround them. As their unwavering faith clashes with the eerie happenings that plague them, tensions run high and paranoia sets in. The film delves deep into psychological horror, exploring themes of faith, sin, and the fear of the unknown.

The Witch will screen on October 4.


X

X, directed by Ti West and starring Mia Goth, is set in the late 1970s following a group of filmmakers who venture into rural Texas to shoot an adult film. They soon realize their plans will take a gruesome turn when stay at a remote, secluded farmhouse owned by an old couple with a sinister secret.

This film was followed by a prequel film titled Pearl, with Mia Goth portraying a high-strung country girl who wants to be famous, and will see the actress return in a sequel titled MaXXXine.

X will re-release on October 11.


Under the Skin

Under the Skin, the mesmerizing creation of director Jonathan Glazer, takes you on a spine-chilling journey through the depths of Scotland.

At the heart of this enigmatic tale is Scarlett Johansson, who delivers a spellbinding performance as Laura, a seductive being from another realm. With an ethereal beauty that captivates, she prowls the streets, luring unsuspecting men into her web of intrigue. The film explores themes of identity, toxic masculinity, loneliness, and what it means to be human under Laura’s perspective.

This thought-provoking film returns to theaters on October 18.


Midsommar

Midsommar, directed by Ari Aster, follows a group of American friends who travel to a remote Swedish village to partake in a rare midsummer festival that only occurs once every 90 years. The innocent cultural experience soon spirals into a nightmarish journey of pagan rituals and disturbing traditions.

As a psychological horror, the film, starring Florence Pugh, is an exploration of the eerie human behaviors in the bright, colorful setting of Sweden. Viewers will find themselves captivated by the events that unfold. 

Midsommar is back in theaters on October 25.
