The service has a vast array of book adaptations, with many of them being the streamer’s top shows and movies. Bridgerton

Based on the New York Times best selling series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton follows the rich and powerful families of Regency London in their journeys of love and marriage. Each season focuses on a new couple as they navigate the marriage market, family pressures, and social politics. 


Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story 

From the world of Bridgerton, comes Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The series is a prequel to the Bridgerton series and dives into the relationship of King George and Queen Charlotte. The dual timeline series follows Charlotte’s rise to power alongside her King who is facing mental health issues. 


Heartstopper

Heartstopper is based on the bestselling LGBTQ+ graphic novel by Alice Oseman about love, life, and coming of age. Nick and Charlie navigate coming out, young queer relationships, friendship, and mental illness. 


You

You follows a dangerously charming and obsessive young man as he interests himself into the lives of those he admires. Based on Caroline Kepnes’ debut novel, the series stars Penn Badgley with the fifth and final season coming soon. 


Orange is the New Black

The series is based on the New York Times number one best selling memoir, Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison by Piper Kerman. The series follows the lives of inmates and guards of a women’s prison.


To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Based on the young adult romance novels by Jenny Han, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before follows Lara Jean (Lana Condor) who accidentally sends old love letters to all the boys she loved. 


XO, Kitty

XO, Kitty is not directly based on a book, but focuses on the younger sister of Lara Jean in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series. This spinoff series follows Kitty (Anna Cathcart) as she attends a boarding school in South Korea and navigates moving away from home, young relationships, and queer exploration. 


The Queen’s Gambit

The Queen’s Gambit follows chess prodigy Beth Harmon (Anya-Taylor Joy) as she becomes an elite chess player while battling drug and alcohol dependency. It’s based on the 1983 American novel by Walter Tevis.


Virgin River

Virgin River is based on Robyn Carr’s best-selling 21 novel series. The series follows Melinda who answered an ad to work as a nurse and midwife in a remote Northern California town. She quickly gets intertwined in the small town gossip, politics, and drama. The fifth season arrives on Netflix in September. 


The Midnight Club

Based on the book by Christopher Pike, The Midnight Club follows a group of eight members who meet up each night to share sinister stories while looking for signs of the supernatural. 


The Haunting of Hill House

The Haunting of Hill House follows siblings who grew up in what becomes the most haunted house in the country. As adults, they are forced back to the face of tragedy and must confront the ghosts of their past. The limited series from Mike Flanagan is based on the book of the same name by Shirley Jackson. 


The Sandman

Based on the comic book series published by DC Comics, The Sandman follows Dream who is the cosmic being that controls all dreams. He is captured and held prisoner for over a century and must journey across different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence has caused.


First Kill

First Kill is based on a short story written by V.E. Schwab for an anthology titled Vampires Never Get Old. The series follows Juliette and Calliope, a vampire and vampire hunter who are both trying to make their first kill. 


Locke and Key

Based on the comics by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke and Key follows three siblings who after losing their father, move into a house with reality bending keys. 


The Baby-Sitters Club

The Baby-Sitters Club follows a group of five middle school students as they launch their own babysitting business. The two season series is based on the book of the same name by Ann M. Martin. 


Dash and Lily

This holiday themed series is based on Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. A whirlwind holiday romance begins as Lily (Midori Francis) and Dash (Austin Abrams) share dreams, dares, and desires in a notebook that they pass back and forth throughout New York City. 


I Am Not Okay With This

The one season show is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Charles Forsman. I Am Not Okay With This follows a teenager as she navigates high school, family, and her sexuality all while dealing with new superpowers. 


A Series Of Unfortunate Events

A Series of Unfortunate Events follows the tragic tale of three orphans as they investigate their parents’ death. The three season series adapted from the 13 novel series written by Daniel Handler under the pen name of Lemony Snicket. 


Girlboss

Based on Sophia Amoruso’s autobiography #Girlboss, the series tells the story of how Amoruso started the fashion company Nasty Gal.
