Dev Patel Makes Directorial Debut In Monkey Man Trailer

Produced by Jordan Peele, Dev Patel both stars in and makes his directorial debut with Monkey Man. The film follows his character Kid’s rage and quest for vengeance after corrupt leaders who systemically victimize the poor murder his mother.

The trailer starts out with Kid recalling a memory of a story his mother used to tell him about a demon king and his army bringing fire and terror into their land. That is until they faced off with Hanuman, a legend and icon that embodies strength and courage. From there, we’re shown Kid as a young underground gorilla-masked fighter to make ends meet. Working other jobs that no one else wants to tackle fuels him with the desire to destroy the entire system.

The scenes are action-packed with chase scenes, broken glass, stabbing, guns, fighting, and more — all in attempt to settle the score with the elites who took everything from him.

The cast also includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, and Makarand Deshpande.

Monkey Man premieres in theaters on April 5.
