Did You Catch These Red, White, and Royal Blue Easter Eggs?

The royal romantic comedy Red, White, and Royal Blue hit Prime Video on Friday and we are officially obsessed here at Pop Culture Planet. The adaptation comes from the popular novel by Casey McQuiston, building on its already passionate fanbase. It follows Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) of England and Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the president of the United States in a heartwarming enemies to lovers tale of overcoming societal pressure and accepting who you are. While we were swooning over their love story, Pop Culture Planet’s Jordan Bohan caught these Easter eggs that eagle-eyed fans won’t want to miss.

Taylor Swift’s Dress

In the opening scene, we see Prince Henry’s sister Beatrice walking in with her husband. The beaded blue dress caught some viewers' eyes as being a bit familiar. The dress is the same one that Taylor Swift wore in her “Blank Space” music video in 2014.

The Royal Wedding Cake

During the iconic cake scene at the royal wedding, Prince Henry says “They practically had to break the doors down to get it inside.” This seemingly random comment was in reference to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding reception in which the cake designer for the royal wedding revealed a door at the palace had to be taken off its hinges to get the trolley carrying the cake through the building.

Royal Fashion

The style in the movie is another big nod to the real life royal family. Princess Beatrice, Prince Henry’s sister, is seen wearing an exact replica of the dress that Kate Middleton wore at Wimbledon back in 2021.

Casey McQuiston Book

When the high profile couple takes a vacation to Alex’s home state of Texas, the boys seem to grow closer and can relax a little given more privacy. In one scene, the two are seen reading on a hammock together. Alex is reading another of McQuiston’s novels One Last Stop

Casey McQuiston Cameo

Did you know the author of the book Casey McQuiston makes a cameo in the movie? Towards the end of the film, the President is awaiting her victory or defeat in the re-election. Alex walks in on his mother writing a concession speech given how close the race is. If you look closely, one of the writers assisting the President is Casey McQuisten.
