After a super meta summer at Camp Shallow Lake, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series hit up the D23 Expo to shed light on season 4.

It’s about to be a wild ride as the East High students return to school to put on a stage production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Did Frankie Rodriguez tease the announcement of this production for us? In the interview I did with him for season 3, he said his dream song to do on the series would be “Can I Have This Dance” from the third film.

At the same time, they find out the cast of the original High School Musical films will be filming High School Musical 4: The Reunion at their school — and they get to be extras! To date, only three past original cast members have appeared on the Disney+ series — KayCee Stroh, Lucas Grabeel, and Corbin Bleu — but could this be why Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron had been seen posting cryptic photos in front of East High recently? Crossing my fingers all the original cast returns for this meta move!
