The long awaited season 3 trailer for Bridgerton is finally here!

Fans have been on the edge of their seat waiting for more Polin since Netflix shared plans for the new season. The third installment of the period drama adaptation is set to focus on the friends to lovers story of Penelope (Nicola Coughlin) and Colin (Luke Newton), but the trailer shows that such a romance may not be as simple as expected.

With over two years between seasons, fans have been patiently waiting for this love story and the showrunners seem to share the same sentiment. In the opening of the trailer we hear the iconic Lady Whistledown voice welcome us back, saying, “Dearest gentle reader, we have been apart for far too long.” With much anticipation, there is a lot to dissect in this full-length trailer.

There has been a trend titled the ‘Bridgerton Glow Up’ where each season’s love interest seem to get more attractive overnight. Is it the writing, romance, or costumes? It’s hard to say, but it is even alluded to in this new trailer when the Bridgerton brothers are in a carriage together when Benedict points out that Colin has suddenly become more “sturdy.”

While this series is based on Julia Quinn’s books, Shonda Rhimes has made many updates and changes to the original story — Polin’s love story being one of them. In the series, Colin volunteers to help Penelope find a husband while he too pursues other romantic partners. He even tells Eloise that he is not interested in Penelope in a romantic manner and we see him kissing the hand of another young woman. Lord Debling also shows an interest in the wallflower, complimenting her and taking her hand for a dance at a ball.

Another fan favorite aspect of the series is the fashion, makeup, and hair. During regency times, these aspects of your appearance tell a story in itself. Penelope starts to show defiance towards her family by going to the modiste by herself and requesting dresses of a more flattering green color. She then steps out at all ball with a dramatic reveal showing just how confident and beautiful she is, even though she had been overlooked time and time again.

The third season of Bridgerton is dropping in two parts, with Part 1 premiering May 16 and Part 2 on June 13. Until then, you can stream the first two seasons of Bridgerton and the limited series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on Netflix.
