Heartstopper’s Joe Locke Is Making Broadway Debut In Sweeney Todd

Heartstopper star Joe Locke is headed to the Big Apple to make his Broadway debut! The Netflix star announced via Instagram that he will be joining the cast of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in 2024.

After the explosive premiere of Netflix’s hit original series Heartstopper, the entire cast became the most in demand actors in the industry. Co-star Kit Connor was named Most In-Demand Rising Star of 2022 at the 5th Annual Global Demand Awards due to the success of the series. Their popularity was undeniable and fans wanted more from the group.

Joe Locke’s career started in theater and then navigated towards his first on-screen roll in Heartstopper. Shortly after, he was cast in Marvel’s Agatha: Darkhold Diaries spinoff series that is set to premiere in late 2024. The 20 year old actor is now headed to New York City for his first Broadway role. He will be playing Tobias Ragg alongside Broadway veterans Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster. His character is initially the apprentice to the conman and barber Adolfo Pirelli until he is taken under the wing of the motherly Mrs. Lovett. He takes on the role from fellow Netflix star Gaten Matarazzo, known for playing Dustin in Stranger Things.

Grab your tickets for Sweeney Todd to see Locke take on the role beginning January 31, 2024.
