Couple To Throuple Is Back For Week Two, Let’s See What These Throuples Are Up To

tv

Back for week two, Peacock’s new dating show Couple to Throuple is bringing us so much to unpack, from the entrance of a new couple, Maximo and Ash, to Jonathan deciding he wanted to swap out of his relationship with Rehman and Ashmal. Be prepared for a lot of spoilers because we have to unpack these three episodes.

What truly distinguishes this show is its commitment to capturing genuine moments and authentic interactions. Take, for instance, the hilarious incident when Sean unveils the frequent physical reactions he was having while chatting with Darrien and Brittne. It added a refreshing dose of authenticity and humor without dramatizing it. But let’s get into what you really care about, which is what is going on between all these throuples.

Maximo and Ash have entered the chat and are ready to play, and I’m actually very excited about this new addition. They are shattering gender norms, and that’s what we need to see, just how diverse polyamory can be. These two immediately feast their eyes on the towering Junior. And although I anticipated they would delve deeper into that connection, their choice of the lovely Becca just made so much sense. However these two don’t seem like they are done exploring, and may be the first couple to steal another’s third. Listen we knew it would get complicated, but I certainly didn't expect this new couple to come out swinging. And there’s more, though they seem interested in Becca, they aren't quite ready to settle just yet. When Darrien confesses that she's interested in them, these two are prepared to invite her along their ride. But hold on they aren't quite finished yet they are also throwing their claws into the lovely Jonathan. If it wasn't already obvious, this couple is prepared to push boundaries to get what they want. I think they will be bringing the heat. Despite that, I'm just crossing my fingers for Junior's return because he was actually excited to join Maximo and Ash, and they dropped him as fast as they picked him.

Corey, Wilder, and Denyse are my OTP, but for throuples. Their relationship has blossomed into something truly remarkable. We are actually witnessing them build a working relationship. I love the moment where they were getting pretty frisky in the pool and, after Corey mentions that she was a tad uncomfortable and feeling left out, Wilder and Denyse reassure her that she's in a safe space and her comfort is valued in their intimacy. I mean, how could you not just swoon over that? I am so sad to see them go as they were the only throuple making it work, but they found what they were looking for and eagerly walked away ready to explore their relationship on the outside. Unlike other reality shows fixated on monetary prizes, their motivations feel refreshingly genuine, making their relationship development all the more compelling.

One of this weeks challenges called The Sweat Lodge got so real for a few of our couples, especially with Wilder, Corey, and Denyse officially solidifying their throuple status. And Darrien basically telling Sean and Brittne they aren’t giving her enough physical attention. Darrien's free-spirited nature yearns to spread her wings, yet Shawn and Brittne prioritize exclusivity and loyalty. This misalignment suggests that integrating Darrien into their relationship may pose challenges, despite their genuine interest in her. But when is Darrien going to say something? She has yet to share that concern with the couple. I'll admit I am a bit biased because I love these two, but it’s a bit shady if you ask me, and I bet Brittne is not going to be too excited about it.

Oh boy, Rehman and Ashmal are at it again. Them arguing every five seconds is so awkward, and I feel so bad for Jonathan. He's trying to explore their connection, but he's understandably skeptical. Let's face it, Rehman likes to be the center of attention. Instead of communicating when he feels excluded, he waits like a predator lurking in the shadows, preparing his next verbal attack in front of everyone, might I add. Even Ashmal seems fed up, and for a moment, I thought he might call it quits. He says, "If I don’t want to be your second, how the hell is he going to want to be a third?" And I couldn’t agree more. I wish we got to see more conversations between the two, as it seems the next day after Jonathan swaps out, they are just back to normal. What exactly happened there?

Dylan and Lauren’s story falls flat compared to the other couples. It just seems like they are looking for their next one-night stand. First Becca, then Mia — but wait, she isn’t physical enough for them — and now Jess, who could honestly be Lauren's sister in the looks department. Would it be better to just have all the singles in the house with the couples so everyone can explore? However, I’m sure that dynamic would be hard to navigate.

I know this is a dating show, but can we give an honorable mention to the besties Becca and Jonathan? Their friendship has been solid from the start, and the end of episode six just proves they have built a meaningful relationship. Everyone loves Becca, but no one has her back like Jonathan.

Couple to Throuple is taking dating to a whole other level, and the drama is only heating up. New episodes airs Thursdays every week on Peacock.
