M3GAN Is Everyone’s Favorite Killer Doll Thanks To Viral Trailer

Taylor Swift’s “It’s Nice to Have a Friend” takes a sinister turn as it punctuates the outrageous trailer for the new film M3GAN from the creatives behind Annabelle, Malignant, and The Black Phone.

“Ever since I was little, I dreamed of this perfect toy that would protect a kid from ever feeling lonely or sad,” says Allison Williams’ character Gemma in the trailer, while introducing us to her latest creation — the sentient robotic doll Megan. The goal is to protect and connect with her newly orphaned niece Cady — played by The Haunting Of Hill House alum Violet McGraw — but Megan takes her job a little too seriously.

“They could be building emotional connections that are too hard to untangle,” warns Gemma’s colleague… and she seems to be right. We see Megan defending Cady when Gemma tries to reprimand her for not eating the veggies on her pizza, pushing a bully in front of a car, and doing terrifyingly impressive cartwheels and sassy dance moves that the Internet already can’t get enough of before attacking anyone who might harm her new bestie.

M3GAN is bound to be a cult classic as new fans are already meme-ifying her and pitting her against other iconic evil dolls like Chucky, Annabelle, Tiffany Valentine, and Lily. Even rapper Megan Thee Stallion is ready to watch, tweeting: “Not being biased but I think they made this movie for me. I will be the THEE FIRST in line to see M3GAN!!!”

The film hits theaters January 13, 2023.
