Kelly Rowland Reacts To Fans Finding Out She Put Little Mix Together On The X Factor UK
Girl power has never been stronger!
Three months ago, The X Factor UK released footage revealing that Nicole Scherzinger, formerly of the girl group The Pussycat Dolls, was the driving force behind putting together the global phenomenon boy band One Direction. Now the British music competition’s accounts have dropped another never before seen clip sharing that another girl group icon — Kelly Rowland, formerly of Destiny’s Child — was behind the formation of Little Mix.
“That is strong vocally,” said Rowland in the clip, as she brought Jesy Nelson and Perrie Edwards’ photos in line with Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. “It’s about being the next generation and discovering something new.”
“These two vocals work great together, this one just completely has this nice soft texture that fills it all in. I love these girls,” she said, pointing to the girls’ photos and emphasizing their unique personalities. “We heard these two sing together, it was nice. I heard these two girls sing together and what they bring and you listen to their voices and you know what can happen… I just hear it.”
During a virtual interview for Rowland’s upcoming Paramount+ movie Fantasy Football, Pop Culture Planet asked her about what it was like for people to see the influence she had in forming one of the most successful recent girl groups. “You know what's funny is I just remember seeing all the ladies and I don't know if it's because of my DC days and just dealing with [what] that chemistry would feel like, but I knew what they felt like in my soul. I felt like I knew what they would look like all together and I went off my instincts, to be honest.”
“I remember Jade saying, ‘I just don't know about being in a group.’ You know what I mean? She was definitely… I can’t do her accent because she has a cute, cute little accent,” she gushed. “I just saw it.”
“I’m so grateful that they trusted me [and] I’m so grateful that people also saw that video,” Rowland cheered. “Yeah, I put those girls together and they turned out great!”
Someone needs to get Rowland and Scherzinger to team up to churn out more power groups!
