Harvey Guillén and Jessica Marie Garcia Have A Huge Reunion On Lopez vs Lopez

In 2010, Harvey Guillén and Jessica Marie Garcia starred on ABC Family’s Huge. The series lasted for a season as it followed teens at a weight loss camp. Since then, Guillén has had breakout roles in What We Do In The Shadows and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, while Garcia has starred in fan favorite roles in Liv and Maddie, On My Block, and Diary of a Future President. Now, Kristen Maldonado of Pop Culture Planet spoke with them about reuniting 13 years later as guest stars in Lopez vs Lopez’s new episode “Lopez vs Primos.”

The duo were rising young actors making their TV debuts on Huge. “We were literally fresh babies. For me, that was my first thing. I'm sure Jessica had done other stuff before that, but that was my first, first thing ever,” said Guillén. “I was a lead on the show. We learned as we went along. I remember meeting Jessica on set and just had a good rapport with her. We stayed in touch throughout the years, but we’ve grown up together in this town.”

Reuniting with Guillén on Lopez vs Lopez was a “dream” for Garcia. “It was a dream come true honestly because he was such a love and a protector on set. I had no idea what I was doing. I also didn’t know that was your first job because you did not act like that,” she gushed about her co-star. “Harvey really owns his power and I just admire that about him so much. Being able to walk in and feeling like we’ve gone on this journey together, but also like have been separate for so long… it just felt like a really nice coming home.”

Guillén kept it real about what it was like on the Huge set. “Things were different back then. The way people addressed things were different, the way they treated actors. Let’s just say, I didn’t stand for seeing Jess be treated a certain way,” he said. “Literally, we’re like family.”
