Meet The New Plastics In The Mean Girls Movie Musical Trailer!

This isn’t your mother’s Mean Girls

We finally have a trailer for one of my most anticipated films of 2024! That’s right, the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Mean Girls.

From the mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the popular clique “The Plastics,” ruled by queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp, reprising her role from Broadway) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). But she makes the big mistake of falling for Regina’s ex Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney). With the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), can Cady stay true to herself while navigating the cutthroat world of high school?

This cast is insane! Not only do we have a star-studded ensemble, but Fey and Tim Meadows return from the original film while Ashley Park who played Gretchen on Broadway makes a cameo. The scenes in the trailer are soundtracked by Olivia Rodrigo songs, but it seems like a missed opportunity to not highlight at least one of the iconic songs from the Broadway musical in the trailer. This is a musical after all, which is what separates it from the source material. I can’t wait to see how they bring this musical adaptation to life on the silver screen!

Fetch totally happens on January 12 when Mean Girls hits theaters.
