Mean Girls Movie Musical Adds Avantika, Christopher Briney, and Bebe Wood To Cast

In what’s shaping up to be one of my most anticipated movie musicals of all time comes new casting news for Paramount+’s Mean Girls adaptation.

It’s already been announced that Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Auli’i Cravalho, and Jaquel Spivey have been cast as Cady, Regina, Janis, and Damian respectively… and now some of our favorite rising stars are rounding out this iconic ensemble.

Avantika of Spin and Senior Year fame will take on the role of Karen Smith, while Love Victor’s Bebe Wood will channel our favorite heir to the Toaster Strudel empire Gretchen Wieners. Plus The Summer I Turned Pretty break out star Christoper Briney has been tapped to play Cady’s love interest Aaron Samuels.

During an interview for Senior Year, I asked Avantika if she would ever consider doing Broadway with her triple threat skills. “I would love to be on Broadway. I think that would be such a dream. I just never have really had the guts to be like, ‘I’m going to go pursue this,’ but hopefully sometime down the line,” she said. Lucky for us, her joining this adaptation of Broadway’s Mean Girls musical is the next best thing!

The Paramount+ movie musical is being directed by Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne and produced by Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey, with Fey writing the adapatation.
