Masked Slashers Seek Fresh Blood

Remember back in 2008 when classic horror film The Strangers released? Well, they’re back again for more thrills and kills.

Director Renny Harlin and Lionsgate have teamed up to bring not one, but three sequels to The Strangers franchise. Although not much information has been shared, the first chapter stars Madelaine Petsch as a young woman going on a road trip with her fiancé (Froy Gutierrez). When they stop in a remote vacation rental in the woods, they soon become the target of unprovoked violence by the haunting gang of masked strangers. Joining The Strangers: Chapter One are Gabriel Basso, Rachel Shenton, and Richard Brake.

The short clip from the NYCC panel shows Petsch’s character putting down her phone as looks out the window of their cabin when she hears noises, suspecting it to be her fiancé. A dark figure appears at the front door asking, “Is Tamara here?” and then quickly disappears. That is, only to reappear in the cabin while Petch’s character is focused at the door. Harlin explained the following movies will continue to follow Petsch’s character amid the cruel attacks and how it affects her.

All three movies are planned to release in 2024.

Wait, Clones Are Real?

AMC released a teaser for Orphan Black: Echoes, a spin-off to the original sci-fi show Orphan Black. However, this story is far from the original with its unique look and feel.

The teaser shows Lucy, played by Krysten Ritter, as she wakes up in a doctor's office with no idea who she is. When she gets flashbacks of knives and blood, she freaks out and asks why she can’t remember who she is. The doctor tells her she’s had a procedure and, as she’s asking what kind of procedure, she stumbles upon a lab with a hand eerily reaching the side of a glowing pink tube.

The show will follow a group of women as they try to untangle the mysteries of who they are and what has happened in a futuristic 2052 world. Amanada Fix, Avan Jogia, Keeley Hawes, James Hiroyuki Liao, and Zariella Langford join the clone world.

Scared to find out if you could ever be a clone? Orphan Black: Echoes is set to release its first 10 episodes in 2024 on AMC+.
